Womenade of La Plata County, a program of Women’s Resource Center in Durango, is a grassroots initiative that provides emergency financial assistance to individuals facing sudden hardship. Through grants of up to $700, Womenade helps normally self-sufficient community members cover essential expenses such as overdue rent, utility bills, childcare, car repairs, or medical costs.
Every other month, Womenade hosts lively, community-driven events where attendees donate funds to meet urgent, local needs. Contributions stay right here in La Plata County—directly supporting neighbors in crisis and fostering a stronger, more resilient community.
As one of only three long-standing financial assistance programs in the region, Womenade has granted over $300,000 to help more than 650 individuals since 2002.
